A low pressure trough extending through inland parts of Western Australia, running through South Australia and across the border between Victoria and New South Wales is generating a patchy line of low to mid level cloud with embedded thunderstorms. Convective cloud and thunderstorm activity can be seen around the country's tropical north, largely confined to the Cape York Peninsula, the Gulf of Carpentaria and the Top End. Wisps of high level cloud drift is located over south eastern parts of the country in the wake of a cold front moving through the Tasman Sea. A thick sheet of low level cloud is being driven over the southwestern corner of the country by a high pressure ridge over the Indian Ocean The rest of the country is mostly cloudy free.
