A low pressure system located in the bight is generating low to mid level cloud with embedded thunderstorms off the coast of South Australia. A trough extends from the low into southern Western Australia, with low cloud behind the trough. A low pressure trough extends from interior Western Australia through central coastal waters of South Australia bringing a thick sheet of mid to upper level cloud and a line of thunderstorm activity through much of western interior South Australia. This upper cloud extends into western New South Wales and Victoria. A cold moist airmass is being dragged by strong winds across much of the country's southeast, obscuring Tasmania in a patchy sheet of thick mid level cloud. The rest of the country is mostly cloud free.
