A high pressure system centred over the Tasman Sea is generating a moist northeasterly airstream, which is driving a thick blanket of low to mid level cloud over northeastern New South Wales and the east coast of Queensland. A trough stretches from Queensland into Victoria, and another trough reaching over Tasmania, are generating a band of low to high level cloud with embedded thunderstorms over southeastern Australia. An upper level disturbance is producing a blanket of mid to high level cloud with embedded thunderstorms over inland parts of Western Australia and western South Australia. A broad area of low pressure with branching troughs across the northern half of Australia has encouraged development of uneven low level cloud with isolated thunderstorm activity.
