Queensland local weather

Mostly sunny in eastern districts south of Mackay and the adjacent interior, with isolated showers near the coast north of Rockhampton. Scattered showers and thunderstorms elsewhere, showers tending widespread and to rain at times between Ayr and Cairns, with locally heavy falls possible. Thunderstorms possibly severe with heavy rainfall in the Channel Country. Light to moderate southeasterly winds in eastern Queensland, tending northeasterly in the interior, winds fresh at times about the Whitsundays. Maximum temperatures below average inland in the far west, above average elsewhere in the southern interior, near average elsewhere.
